Trixy
Links Chainwear specializes in creating unique chainmail bracelets, necklaces,
earrings and pendants using metal jump rings of all sizes. Metals such as sterling silver, stainless
steel, copper, blackened stainless steel and brass are used. Chainmail is an art from the Renaissance
period, first used to make knight’s armour and then adapted to make jewellery. Using a pair of pliers, each ring is opened
and closed carefully and woven together into time-honoured patterns such as
helm chain (pictured), byzantine, persian and inverted round. Some of the pieces feature beadwork but most
show off the beautiful shine of the metal.
Trixy
Links Chainwear was founded in 2010 by Joelle McCall and Mary Gorrill after
taking a class at the Neil Balkwill Civic Arts Centre. Both artists are life-long residents of
Regina.
